6. Colliding bodies
You focus on the stars and the dust
that we can’t see but makes everything around us;
the core and the magma and the earth.
We migrate along rivers and mountains
and streams and absorb the salt and scratch the sand
forming reservoirs that collect our past.
We expand infinitely and contract indefinitely
coring through space and time and
always finding us.
You are my Earth where I root to grow and bloom,
despite our massive tectonic events where the entire foundation of the ground beneath our feet
shifts, folds, compacts, melts, extrudes
and we ride the lava flow
between moments of cooling and rest.
