22. Until we meet again
I peeked around the corner of the eclipse
in the middle of the cosmos,
pitch black and purple and interconnected
with the invisible matter made of
old star parts.
I peeked and saw you standing there
watching the planet revolve,
and sighed.
Around the bend of the eclipse,
standing at the edge of the world and
watching out of the corner of my eye.
We both watched shadows fall on the land
Atlas was over there to the left and the birds sang like it was dusk.
I could see the whispers of flames
of the inner depths of our hearts
dancing around the edge of the sun and moon,
Finding each other and pausing time
as they lingered before moving on again.
